Leading your Pet Dog Training to Excellence

A real Aussie way of taking control of your pet is through channeling the things that are significant to your dog. You can utilize his inherent personality traits while imparting the training. There are four distinct things that need to be considered while imparting training to your pet:

Give clear-cut instructions to the dog

If you tell him no, he will take it as a no to the jumping, whereas what you wanted to depict was not to jump too high or jump on the left side rather than the right side. Be consistent while training the dog
Whenever you are training the pet it is important that all the family members in the house are on the same page. So when you ask your dog to pull off from the couch when he steps on it other family members should not give contradictory instructions of sitting on the couch. This will confuse the dog and he will never understand what you are trying to say to him. Hence, consistency is the key while training the dog.

Be patient. Changes will happen in due course of time
It is very difficult to change a habit as a human being, so how can you expect your dog to unlearn and learn things again very quickly. If you have trained your dog to greet people by jumping at them since early childhood and now you do not want your pet to do that thing you need to give some time to the dog to unlearn that habit and relearn a new behavior like sitting beside the foot of the people and greeting them. It will take time for them to learn this new behavior give him some time and he will come out with flying colors.

Give rewards for positive behavior to the dog
Some people would think that treats are like bribes that you give to the pet in order to make them do something. But try and understand the fact that it is one of the easiest ways to train your dog. You can use treats as positive reinforcement and interact with your dog. But please do not use food very often except during active training sessions. Remember that the positive behavior of the pet should induce the treat rather than the treat inducing the behavior.
